MAGIC FOR GROWN-UPS!

Grown-ups need magic too. Sometimes I think they need magic more than children do. Far too many adults think of magicians as street hustlers and view magic performances as a personal challenge of wits. And that's a great shame. Magic should be about mystery and escapism - not about competition. The performances I give for adults are designed to evoke a sense of wonder that many grown-ups have forgotten existed.

MIND MAGIC
This is my preferred style of performance. Mind magic encompasses demonstrations of extra sensory perception - such as mind reading and clairvoyance - as well as more physical displays of psychokenesis and metal bending. Mind magic is clean and fuss-free, relying on the bare minimum of equipment - often amounting to little more than a large sketch pad and some marker pens. It's also one of the most interactive genres of magic, being as much about the audience as the performer - reading my own mind wouldn't be that impressive after all!

STROLLING CLOSE-UP
Strolling magicians mingle with party guests and perform small close-up magic effects in an informal setting. Unlike with the mind magic performances mentioned above, strolling magicians play to only a handful of people at a time, and do only a small number of effects before moving on to another group. This style of conjuring is extremely effective for informal parties and gatherings - such as the beginning of a wedding reception (before the loud disco starts!).

TABLE HOPPING
Like strolling magicicans, a table hopper moves from one small group of people to another, performing short routines. In this case, magic is performed at the table whilst diners wait for their meals. This form of entertainment is popular and effective in many restaurants, and at wedding receptions.

WEDDINGS & CIVIL PARTNERSHIPS
Magic can be a great addition to your reception at a wedding or civil partnership celebration. Close-up magic around the tables or at a bar helps break the ice between guests who may not know each other, and gives them something to talk about long after the magic performance has ended. It can also serve to keep kids amused in what is often a rather adult-orientated environment. A stand-up magic show can also work well to ease the proceedings into the evening before a DJ takes over or in between sets from your hired band.

HEN NIGHTS
Along with wedding magic, I'm also happy to perform close-up magic at hen nights. This can take the form of traditional close-up table magic, or assume a more mysterious tone with group mind-reading sessions and my 'fake-and-funny' psychic readings!
